Nurse Midwives
Overland Park Regional Medical Center’s team includes certified nurse midwives who provide the mother with education, counseling and hands-on assistance through both pregnancy and labor and delivery. Our certified nurse midwives have established excellence in midwifery, reflecting a philosophy of care that is directed at the woman and her individual reproductive needs. A midwife usually offers a variety of options and seeks to eliminate or minimize interventions, with services including:
- Annual gynecologic exams
- Family planning
- Preconception care
- Prenatal care
- Labor and delivery support
- Newborn care
- Menopausal management
Midwives are appropriate for low-risk pregnancies (60 to 80 percent of all pregnancies are low-risk).
Antepartum Unit
Overland Park Regional Medical Center also offers a high-risk maternal-fetal medicine clinic with an experienced team of compassionate, board-certified perinatologists. Services include:
- Maternal diabetes patient management
- Genetic counseling/testing including amniocentesis and ultrasound evaluation
- Prenatal diagnosis
- Critical care obstetrics
