Overland Park Regional Medical Center—part of HCA Midwest Health, Kansas City’s leading healthcare provider—officially opened its Pediatric Center, which features specialized, comprehensive services for pediatric patients from birth to 18 years of age. Located on the campus of Overland Park Regional Medical Center, the state-of-the-art center offers dedicated inpatient and intensive care and surgical, emergency and specialty care services.
An experienced team of nurses, physician assistants and technologists with specialty pediatrics training joins Eric Peters, M.D., board certified Pediatric Intensivist and Pediatric Medical Director, and Gabriel Schifman, D.O, board certified Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Medical Director of Pediatric Emergency Services. In addition, the Pediatric Center includes a dedicated Child Life Staff, who create a positive experience for families during their child’s hospital stay. The staff is specially trained and certified to help children, adolescents and families understand and cope with illness, treatment and hospitalization.
Combined with the hospital’s Labor and Delivery and a Level III NICU—which cares for more seriously ill preemies and newborns in the area—Overland Park Regional Medical Center is a premier area destination for Women & Children’s healthcare services.
“The Pediatric Center represents an important expansion of our hospital in response to the growing medical needs of our community,” says Overland Park Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Kevin J. Hicks, FACHE. “This gives our outstanding medical team more comprehensive facilities to serve children in a setting that is close to home.”
