WHAT: SUPERHERO KIDS HEALTH AND SAFETY FAIR

WHERE: ER of Shawnee, 1013 Shawnee Mission Parkway, Shawnee, Kan., 66203
WHY: ER of Shawnee, Overland Park Regional Medical Center—part of HCA Midwest Health, Kansas City’s leading healthcare provider—will host its Second Annual Superhero Kids Health and Safety Fair. The first 140 kids will receive a free stuffed animal and visit different stations where volunteers and staff will provide medical procedures for the toys while educating youngsters about health habits. The Midwest Neonatal Transport Team and an ambulance will be on hand to provide information about the specialized care a premature baby receives when transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center’s Level III NICU, the region’s most advanced neonatal intensive care unit. In addition, members of the Shawnee Police and Fire Departments will attend and the Brain Injury Association of Kansas will give free bike helmets and do fittings for the first 40 guests. There will be opportunities for mom and dad to learn about safety around the home from myriad vendors. Complimentary refreshments from Panera will be available. Kids are encouraged dress as their favorite superhero.
