Overland Park Regional Medical Center has added the da Vinci® robotic surgical system to its comprehensive surgical services. The da Vinci Surgical System, a breakthrough platform for minimally invasive surgery, is a sophisticated robotic platform designed to allow physicians to perform complex surgical procedures through very small incisions.
With the smaller incisions and greater surgical precision, da Vinci surgery offers important benefits to patients including significantly less pain, less blood loss, less scarring, shorter surgery recovery time and a faster return to normal daily activities.
Using the da Vinci System, the surgeon operates while seated at a console next to the operating table, viewing a 3D image of the surgical field. The surgeon uses master controls located below the display to perform the procedure. The system translates the surgeon’s hand, wrist and finger movements into precise, real-time movements of the surgical instruments inside the patient.
Surgeons utilize the da Vinci System for urological, gynecological and general procedures.
